MSc or PhD in Neuroscience with an Interdisciplinary Specialization in Computational Neuroscience
In addition to meeting the requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Cumming School of Medicine (Neuroscience), MSc students are required to select one 3-unit course from the Computational series. This course is expected to be Medical Science 755, Introduction to Computational Neuroscience, unless approval is received from the program to substitute another Computational series course.
PhD students are required to select two 3-unit courses from the Computational series. One of these courses is expected to be Medical Science 755, Introduction to Computational Neuroscience, unless approval is received from the program to substitute another Computational series course.
MSc or PhD in Physics and Astronomy with an Interdisciplinary Specialization in Computational Neuroscience
In addition to meeting the requirements of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Faculty of Science (Physics and Astronomy), MSc students are required to select one 3-unit course from the Neuroscience series and one 3-unit course from the Computational series. The Computational course is expected to be Medical Science 755, Introduction to Computational Neuroscience, unless approval is received from the program to substitute another Computational series course.
PhD students are required to select two 3-unit courses from the Neuroscience series and two 3-unit courses from the Computational series. One of the Computational courses is expected to be Medical Science 755, Introduction to Computational Neuroscience, unless approval is received from the program to substitute another Computational series course.
All students are expected to participate in a Computational Neuroscience journal club. Students will also be expected to attend relevant seminars and present their work at a work-in-progress seminar series during their degree.
Advanced Credit
The applicant should make requests for Advanced Credit at the time of application, as part of the admissions process. Credit may be granted for appropriate courses to count towards the specialization with approval of the Computational Neuroscience program. See Advanced Credit for further information.
Credit for Undergraduate Courses
Credit will not be given for undergraduate or 500-level courses.
