Completion requirement

Students must complete 12 units from the lists below, which must include at least one course from each thematic area:

Conceptualization and Design Thematic Area:

Complete at least 1 of the following Courses:

Construction Thematic Area:

Complete at least 1 of the following Courses:

Students must pass each course with a grade of “B-” or higher and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 to progress in the certificate program. Students who receive a grade of “C+” or lower will be given one chance to retake the course, and if they do not attain a grade of “B” or higher they will be required to withdraw.

Completion requirement

Advanced Credit

Advanced Credit will not normally be granted towards the Graduate Certificate in Pipeline Engineering.


Flexible Grade Option (CG Grade)

Students admitted to the Schulich School of Engineering will not be allowed to request the Flexible Grade Option (CG Grade) for any course that is applicable to their degree; or apply any course awarded a grade of CG towards their graduation requirements.

Students may choose the CG grade for a course taken extra to load.

The use of the CG grade will affect students' eligibility for internal awards.


Time Limits

The expected completion time for the Certificate is four months for students in the intensive pathway (12 units in one term).

The expected completion time for the Certificate is eight months for students completing it over two consecutive academic terms (6 units per term).


Supervisory Assignments

A Coordinator is assigned to each cohort in the Graduate Certificate in Pipeline Engineering.
